Bathroom Tips

In previous blog posts, we emphasize the importance of finding ways to add your personality to your home’s décor. It’s much easier to do this starting with the bathroom since it’s a small area to redecorate and makeover. One of the ways to bring in personality is to add bold patterns and colors because it revitalizes the space instantly.

Have you ever considered replacing the floors in your bathroom? There are so many flooring options to choose from that it can feel overwhelming.  Instead of going with the run-of-the-mill plain tiles and solid colors for the floor, why not spice up the space with patterned tiles.

One of the more important steps is deciding on a pattern that you can love for years. A number of choices are available, for instance, you could go with different sized/colored tiles and create a pattern of your own. You could also decide on the least complex option, which is the same-sized tiles and two different colors, and use an alternating pattern. But, if you want something different and bold, then you want a pre-patterned tile.

Look at these four bathrooms and the brilliant use of tile flooring in bold patterns.

If you notice, each one of the bathrooms are using flooring to define the mood of the room. Each bathroom makes use of neutral accents, which makes the floor tiles the “star” of the space.

The main advantage to choosing this type of flooring for your bathroom is that you don’t have to do too much with the other areas of the room. It gives you a variety of different ways to design the bathroom when you pick a bold pattern.

The disadvantage of adding this flooring to a room is that it’s permanent making it difficult and costly to replace down the line. You do always have the option of tile refinishing if you stop liking the tiles. It may cost more than a typical tile refinishing job because of the pattern.

One of the things to consider when adding tile to your bathroom is the material; look to use grade four ceramic tile as it’s suited to withstand moisture in the bathroom.

Of course, the final deciding factor is the budget. You are going to have to decide on a patterned tile that falls within your working budget. Talk to an expert during the planning to make well-informed decisions regarding your bathroom floors.
